Master of Arts in Teaching for New Teachers
This 36-hour, non-thesis graduate degree program fulfills all requirements for a Texas Standard Teaching Certificate and is designed to prepare the recent college graduate and career changer for the teaching profession. All our students enter the classroom with cutting edge, practiced, teaching skills through an individualized field-based experience.
Master of Arts in Teaching for Experienced Teachers
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) for Experienced Teachers is a 36-hour, non-thesis, graduate degree program that facilitates the advanced professional needs of each practicing teacher. The MAT can be completed with or without state of Texas principal certification.
Principal Certification
Rice’s Urban School Leaders Program meets the needs of experienced educators who already hold a master's degree. Candidates gain the strategic skills to be effective educational leaders in K-12 learning environments.
Alternative Teacher Certification
Become a K-12 teacher in just 12 months with Rice University’s Alternative Teacher Certification program. The program (non-credit, non-transcribable) at Rice’s Glasscock School of Continuing Studies prepares new graduates and career changers for the rigors of the classroom. Students will meet Texas Education Agency requirements and complete a paid teaching internship, supervised by Rice faculty.
